I was used to a much different life. Yes you can form close friendships, you need to foster them and be outgoing. I found that a bit difficult because I am a more conservative person and most people that go there are extremely liberally minded. If you are more liberal. . You will fit in better/ be more “normal. ” They have prom. . They call it morp – something to do with they do things backwards. They used to take you off campus for that. There is no homecoming – since there are no competitive sports. There are coffee houses – basically parties – often. There are lots of ways to be social LOTS so don’t worry about that. I have not stayed very close with my interlochen classmates – much closer with my local high school ones even though I wasn’t there for the last two years, but I know of a lot of my Interlochen friends that are extremely close with other classmates – travel to see one another etc. It is a great school, but it is a different experience than public school for sure. My wife loves les mis, so I got us tickets on our anniversary date. What a score right? Well the tickets are front row, and now i’m worried that it’s too close? What I found out was – For theatre, “best” seats are mostly considered to be center orchestra about ten rows away from the stage. O. K. , we live ouside Chicago and are looking for a fun, inexpensive short (5 or less days) summer trip. Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan are all possibilities, but where to go and what to do is our problem. There are 3 of us, me, my husband and our 8 yr old daughter.
